Wed. afternoon we helped the Springfield team with a pool party for the kiddos. They LOVED it! It was so cute seeing all of these Chinese Special needs kids running around in bathing suits splashing in pools, running around with water guns and having their faces painted. Even the kids with heart problems were allowed to come out and get their hands wet. (If the heart kids get too excited it could become an issue!) Jamison loved the pool and was the first one in and the last out!! Carter had a blast squirting everyone with the water guns and got into a war with the male teacher-Pan. It was very hot and the pool party cooled us off a little. I vote for a pool party on a weekly basis! For dinner we went to University City in Langfang. A lot of students in China study English. This is an area where the students enjoy foriengers to come so they can practice their english. We ate at McDonalds and had a student help us order a cheesburger with meat, bread and cheese only. She was fascinated with Carter and "pet" him on the hand and face like a dog. Carter ate that up!!! We went to a Dept. store and looked..the customers were too busy staring at us to shop! We found a DQ, got some ice cream...you have to point to the pictures on the menu to order..and came back to The Inn.
At 5:15am I awoke to firecrackers...10 minutes of firecrackers!! This is a traditional way to celebrate in China for a birthday or special day so..Happy Birthday to someone in one of the villages next door!! I rolled over an went back to sleep!
Carter, Mm and I went to Zachary's House this morning. ( At SFCV there are 5 houses that the kids live in , each House has a name) Upstairs is where the babies and the kids that cannot walk stay. We found this baby that could not have weighed 6 lbs. and the ayi said she was "chi"-7 months. She was the tiniest thing I have ever seen. She could roll from her back to side but, did not look like she was strong enough. Her hand was not much bigger than my thumb!! She was so skinny..like a baby bird. Her name is Florence or Dang Guangling. Please pray for this child today. I will find out more about her.
I will go in about an hour to teach Art to the older school kids again. We will work with Clay today. What a blessing these kids have already been to us!
Only 9 more days until Jeff joins us! We have Skype dates with him and he sounds like he is ready to come now!! Call and bug him if you can!!
